His smile
The smile perfectly forming upon his face, as if a sculpture precisely carved that way
As if God wanted to display his best work of art in the Museum of Planet Earth
A smile so shy,
Yet it will always qualify,
To win the award,
Of the best smile ever laid.
His eyes
I dive deep into his ocean blue eyes
And watch as the distant sun begins to set
just as the body of water smiles back
and the moon awakens from its rest.
The stars gather courage to rise knowing that they can not outshine your grace.
They will keep trying over and over hoping they can be you,
But they will always fail to do so.
His hair
Cascading jet black hair
Just as dark as this night that falls upon us.
So many wonders this night holds,
The way your hair sways in the breeze just as these night shadows breathe but fail to reach.
You throw them off course into other dimensions leaving them to think is there another invention like you.
But we forget that this is the only edition of you that only you are entitled to.
His body
I swear it is as if every movement you make is a dance choreographed and perfected a hundred times over
The perfect curvatures and fine lines of your jaw striking to the eyes
Deep indents of the little dimples that are left behind as your cheeks move to form a lasting smile.
Those soft pink lips that can be kissed infinite times from forever, until the end of eternity.
His voice
I could listen to you all day.
Play your voice on replay.
Over and over.
A song that will never get old, for it will always be gold
The languages you speak only add on to your charm.
From English, to French, to Hindi, to German.
A unique breed that makes you my need
Like a lullaby putting all the planets to sleep
His style
The silver chain rests perfectly around your neck for your beauty.
The floral shirt you wore for your beauty,
hoping that pretty flowers will draw attention away from your face, but you do not realize that it was a magnet that only brought me closer for your beauty.
The navy blue tuxedo graces upon each arm, over each shoulder for your beauty
The collar of your vibrant shirt folds over and perfects itself for your beauty
Don’t you see?
Him
There are no words in the english dictionary that can describe your beauty
for your beauty speaks of no language except that of love.
White light from the prism,
Reflecting colors from red to blue,
But all I can see is you.
And each time I begin to form the words to tell you that I love you, all that comes out is poetry
Darling, I can go on and on about your beauty
For no ink will ever want to run out
And no song will feel too loud.
And so I write,
Lines upon lines
Only in the language of your mind,
The language of your love.
The only language my pen can seem to find.
So darling,
Will you be mine?

Dear Maira,
I had the pleasure of watching you perform this fantastic piece but reading it was even better. I could hear the voices of you and Faryal on the mic, yelling passionately about love and lust, and it is very inspiring to hear and imagine. The fact that you took inspiration from the most random of sources – a TikTok model – and were able to describe his face and body with such detail is amazing. From the line “And each time I begin to form the words to tell you that I love you, all that comes out is poetry” to the repetition of “your beauty” when describing his clothes leaves me in awe of you (and Faryal’s) ability to capture the very essence of a persons physicality in one snapshot. I would like to incorporate this skill in my own writing, because, as with this piece, it creates a powerful and moving image.
If you would like to change anything, I think keeping the image of the shadows throughout the piece would be interesting. You mention “night shadows” earlier in the piece, and I feel that you could use the serenity and elegance of the night to describe the perfect nature of the person you are describing.
I am glad that I got closer to you this year in creative writing, and I have grown to admire your poised and sophisticated nature, which comes out in your writing. I look forward to reading more of your vibrant and complex work.

Dear Maira,
I found this spoken work so adorable as it allows such an amazing personality to pass though I found it was the way you had presented it to be an adorable way and I want to see if more of your works are similar. I could not find much to expand on but I would love to read on with all of your works, now and on.

I really loved this piece. It was very descriptive and intricate.
I also loved the performances. You were able to give us a very good and intimate description of this guy. You helped all of us fall in love.

Dear Maira and Faryal
I was cruising around your blog and noticed this piece. I had already seen it performed a number of times, but had forgotten a lot of the lines, so decided to give it a re-read. For whatever reason, looking at this again reminded me of how special it was the first time.
Honestly, it was really cheesy and and adorable, but I loved it for exactly these reasons. Your lines are flowery and charming; they convey the exasperation of attraction and love so perfectly, and this was made so much better by the commitment to rhyme and your perfect performance. The ending is amazing: it just keeps building up and up until the final question.
Honestly, my only feedback would be to add a link to the music you used in your actual presentation. I feel like listening to it could maybe connect the reader to the poem.
This was sappy and romantic: and it was perfect for those reasons. Well done, guys!
Sincerely,
Zaid
